Working with directories

A directory is a folder that contains data within vStorage.

In vStorage, we define a directory as a folder located within a container. To create a directory, please follow the instructions below:

1. Log in to https://vstorage.console.vngcloud.vn. 2. Select the project and choose the container where you want to create the directory. 3. Choose Create a directory. The Create New Directory screen will be displayed. 4. In the Directory Name field, enter a name that complies with our guidelines for your directory. Once a container is created, you cannot change the name of the directory. We recommend that the directory name should contain lowercase letters, numbers, and no specific special characters such as #, @, $, %, ?, /, `, ~ ... If you really need to name it with uppercase letters, please note that it may encounter some issues when working with third-party software supported by other providers. 5. Select Create. Once you have completed the above 5 steps, the directory will be created. You can upload files to this directory, share, or delete the directory.

In addition to the traditional management interface, we also provide an API that allows you to integrate your applications and tools with vStorage for data storage.

To create a new directory via the vStorage API, please refer to the API developers.

vStorage is also compatible with third-party tools that use the S3 protocol. You can easily use familiar tools such as Rclone, s3cmd, Cyberduck, and more. Please refer to the 3rd party softwares documentation to learn how to integrate and use these tools.

To create a new directory using a third-party software, please refer to the 3rd Party Softwares.

To share a directory, please follow the instructions below:

To share a directory within a container, follow the steps below:

  • When sharing a directory using the View mechanism, you will receive a URL. Copy and paste this URL into your preferred browser. The vStorage system does not directly support viewing directories, so you will need to add the name of the object within the directory to view that specific object.

    • For example, the temporary URL for viewing the setting.ini object within Directory1 would be: [Temporary URL for View]

  • When sharing a directory using the Download mechanism, you will receive a URL. Copy and paste this URL into your preferred browser. The vStorage system does not directly support viewing directories, so you will need to add the name of the object within the directory to download that specific object.

    • For example, the temporary URL for downloading the setting.ini object within Directory1 would be: [Temporary URL for Download]

  • If your browser supports directly opening this type of object, you can view it directly in the browser. If the object is being viewed in the browser, the expiration time of the link will still be counted. If the link has not expired, you can right-click and download the object. If the link has expired, you cannot right-click to download the object, and if you reload the browser, the object's data will not be displayed.

  • If your browser does not support directly opening this type of object, the system will automatically switch to the Download sharing mechanism, and the object will be automatically downloaded to your personal device.
