# Objects naming rule

#### Rules for renaming objects <a href="#objectsnamingrule-rulesforrenamingobjects" id="objectsnamingrule-rulesforrenamingobjects"></a>

The following rules apply to renaming objects in vStorage:

* **Length**: The object name must be between 1 (minimum) and 255 (maximum) characters long.
* **Allowed characters**: The object name can include uppercase and lowercase letters (a-z, A-Z), numbers (0-9), all special characters, and spaces if needed.
* **Restriction on special characters**: To minimize errors when working with objects using user-side tools or on vStorage, we recommend avoiding special characters such as $, #, %, &, ^, etc., in object names. It is advisable to use the Latin alphabet for naming objects and directories.

#### Regulations on the maximum file size when uploading: <a href="#objectsnamingrule-regulationsonthemaximumfilesizewhenuploading" id="objectsnamingrule-regulationsonthemaximumfilesizewhenuploading"></a>

* There is no limit on the number of files in a single upload or download.
* The maximum total file size for files uploaded through the vStorage Portal in a single upload is 20GB.
* The maximum total file size for files uploaded through 3rd party software or the vStorage API in a single upload is 5TB.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.vngcloud.vn/vng-cloud-document/vstorage/object-storage/vstorage-hcm03/features-of-vstorage/working-with-directories-and-objects/objects-naming-rule.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
